Introduction
This website is dedicated to the scientific study of Kerala History.
Kerala has a glorious history. The shores of Kerala were the most sought after places of traders and travelers from time immemorial. This beautiful land supplied spices to the world, even before man started writing history.
Even though Kerala has a culture and tradition of its own, the common man is ignorant of his true antecedents, since history of his homeland is shrouded with legends. Anyway, ordinary people are not in a position to differentiate between the true history and the legend, as of now.
Almost all such legends were created for the interests of religion, community, or ideologies. Certain legends finds place even in textbooks as history. Even the writings on history of recent times are no exception to the trend of writing history to suit such interests.
If this situation has to change, the writings of history should have the backing of research on history. Even though research is going on, the results do not see light, due to the absence of a proper forum to publish it. This website is trying to present the findings of these researches to the public, the scientific community, and the historians.
In scientific research, usually a search of available information and evidences are initially conducted, and based on it, new research is planned and done. Finally, such findings are published in research journals. In some cases a hypothesis is formulated from available data and research is conducted to validate or otherwise the hypothesis. This is done when lot of uncertainties exist in the available data.
As a beginning, a hypothesis, written based on some available data, was presented in www.keralahistory.net earlier on Ancient Chera kingdom. Based on new information it is thoroughly revised and presented here. It will be further revised suitably as and when new evidence is made available from credible sources. Efforts will be made to publish the article, which become instrumental for such corrections, of course, after a detailed study and scrutiny.
This website intends to reveal the real history of Kerala. With the intention of making aware of true history to the common Keralite and to reduce the difficulties in presenting local words in other languages, abstracts of the articles are being published in Malayalam also.
Historians, students of history, researchers, and people who know about the historical material, are invited to participate in this venture.
